Skidmore Exchange Forums and Mailing Lists

Some helpful information for making the most of Skidmore Exchange Forums, and requesting mailing lists.

What are Skidmore Exchange Forums?

Skidmore Exchange Forums are a collection of public and private online discussion forums. There are community forums for posting housing opportunities and items for sale, as well as private groups, course specific conversations, and much more. In order to post to any forums, you must have a Skidmore username and password.


  • you would like to post a rental on the Housing forum, please contact Human Resources for assistance.
  • you are a Skidmore retiree and you are unable to login, please contact us.
  • you would like to have a forum created for a club, committee, affinity group, etc. please contact us.

To Access the forums:

A link to “Forums” can be found on Faculty/Staff and Current Students pages on the Skidmore College website. You will find it on the left hand side ¬†navigation menu. You can also find the “Forums” link on the A-Z Directory.¬†Skidmore Exchange Forums can ¬†be accessed directly from any web browser by going to

Login with your Skidmore username and password, and you will then see the following:

To Create a Post:

Click on the forum you want, for example “Housing”. Click on the button that says “Start a New Topic”. Enter your information and then click on “Post”. 

To Follow a Post:

Where you see the word Following in the screenshot below, you will initially see (…). Click on … and you will be able to select the option to follow any updates that are posted to that category/topic.

To Edit a Post:

Click on your post and hover the cursor over it. Look for a little grey gear in the upper right-hand corner of the box. Your cursor has to be on your post for the gear to appear. Click on the gear and you will see the option to edit.

To Delete a Post:

Click on your post, and hover the cursor over it. Look for a little gear to appear in the upper right-hand corner of the box. There you will see the option to “Remove Post”.
