There are a number of applications that are integrated with theSpring, in order to make the learning process more seamless for instructors and students. Find below a list of applications currently integrated, along with brief descriptions and links to further documentation on how to configure the various integrations in your course sites.
Alexander Street is a video streaming service that our library subscribes to. Videos from Alexander Street can be embedded directly in your course sites in theSpring.
Cengage is a publishing company that offers an integration to make purchased digital content accessible via your course site in theSpring via their MindTap application. Here is a link to the Cengage MindTap Instructor Guide.
If making use of digital course reserves in the library, then those reserves can be accessed by the instructor and students directly through your course site in theSpring. The Course Reserves link can be found in the course navbar under the Library Resources dropdown menu.
Ensemble Cloud allows you to upload, organize, and share your videos from a centralized, password-protected repository. Videos can be easily shared with links via email or embedded in theSpring, WordPress and other web pages to be viewed by a public audience or by a private, Skidmore community-only audience.
iClicker is a student response system that can include physical clickers as well as web- or application-based live response access. iClicker Cloud is integrated with theSpring and can be used in conjunction with your course sites.
the LibGuide integration automatically connects students to the appropriate reference librarian, based on the course ID. The LibGuide link can be found in the course navbar under the Library Resources dropdown menu.
Macmillan is a publishing company that offers an integration to make purchased digital content accessible via your course site in theSpring. They also have a number of discipline-specific and other unique applications that can be integrated with theSpring, such as Sapling, FlipIt (Econ and Physics), and iClicker. McGraw-Hill is a publishing company that offers a wide range of physical and digital learning resources. McGraw-Hill Connect is their web-based assignment and assessment platform that can be set up to sync with your course site in theSpring. Norton is a publishing company that offers an integration to make purchased digital content accessible via your course site in theSpring. Find instructions here on syncing Norton resources with your course site in theSpring.
Padlet is a web application that allows instructors and students to populate a digital wall with content. The digital “sticky notes” can include a variety of media types.
Pearson is a publishing company that offers an integration to make purchased digital content accessible via your course site in theSpring. Their digital interface is referred to as MyLab and Mastering.
Perusall is a social annotation tool that integrates with theSpring via an external learning tool. Perusall allows students and their instructors to collaboratively markup readings.
Turnitin is an originality checking and plagiarism prevention service that checks student writing for citation mistakes or inappropriate copying. Turnitin compares student submissions to text in its database of student work, websites, books, articles, etc. Turnitin is integrated into the Assignment tool in theSping and can be toggled on under the Turnitin tab when editing or creating an assignment.
Vista Higher Learning is a publishing company focused on language learning that offers an integration to make purchased digital content accessible via your course site in theSpring. A VHL integration with theSpring is in place can be used by navigating to a course content module and clicking on Upload/Create > Create a File, clicking on the Insert Quicklink icon, and choosing VHL Quicklink. Videos from YouTube can be searched for and embedded in your course sites in theSpring. You will find YouTube among the Insert Stuff applications that available for embedding in an HTML file in theSpring.
