File Management & Cloud Storage

Keep your work
safe, shareable, and organized.

This hub brings together Skidmore’s cloud storage tools, collaboration platforms, and licensed software so you can keep files backed up, share them securely, and access what you need from anywhere.

Box is Skidmore’s primary cloud platform for secure file storage and collaboration. Organize content, share with teams, track versions, and comment in one place—on the web, desktop, and mobile.

With Box you can:

  • Sync selected folders to your computer for offline work.
  • Share folders with granular permissions (view, edit, co‑owner).
  • Edit Microsoft 365 files directly in Box.
  • Use Box Notes for collaborative meeting notes and outlines.

Skidmore has an institutional license, so you log in with your Skidmore credentials—no separate account needed.

Why use Box?

Box is more than storage—it’s a collaborative workspace. Use it to organize files, back up important folders, and share content with classmates, colleagues, or external partners.

  • Organize: Create folders by course, project, or department.
  • Sync: Keep select folders in sync between your desktop and the cloud.
  • Collaborate: Share folders with precise roles (viewer, editor, co‑owner).
  • Track: Use version history to roll back to earlier drafts.
  • Comment: Add comments and tasks directly on files.

The Box mobile app lets you capture photos or documents on your phone and upload them straight into shared folders.

Collaboration
Sharing, Permissions & Versioning
›

Key collaboration features in Box include:

  • Sharing Files/Folders: Invite specific people or generate secure shared links.
  • Granular Permissions: Choose viewer, editor, uploader, or co‑owner per collaborator.
  • Version History: Track edits and restore previous versions when needed.
  • File Editing: Edit Office files directly in the browser using Office 365 integration.
  • Box Notes: Create shared notes, agendas, or outlines that live alongside your files.

Comments and tasks keep feedback attached to the file itself, so conversations don’t get lost in email.
