Borrowing Mobile Devices

Academic Technologies manages a small pool of mobile devices for faculty exploration in the classroom. We are currently experimenting with the following devices:

  • iPad
  • Surface Pro
  • Chromebook
  • Tablet PCs

Note: We generally loan the equipment out for an entire semester so you have plenty of time to explore and learn. If you are interested, please contact us to see what we have available.

Classroom Integration

If you are a Mac enthusiast, we have Apple TV’s available in a few classrooms, which allow you to present directly from your mobile device. Another popular and easy to use solution is the¬†Doceri¬†app, an interactive whiteboard, free from the App Store. All you need to do is let us know what room you will be teaching in, and we will supply the software needed on the podium.

If you are a Windows enthusiast, we are currently experimenting with the Microsoft Surface tablet in the classroom. This device can be used as an interactive whiteboard, with all the applications you are used to teaching with. With an app called Ink2Go, you can easily do a short lecture capture to share with your students for review after class. Faculty are also experimenting with using the Surface Pro to create materials to deliver a flipped course in Biology.
